Past Classes & Events

Cooking on Fire
Experience the world’s most simple and primitive food preparation method – cooking over an open fire. From flat pita bread baked on a griddle and root vegetables cooked in hot charcoal to charred eggplants, fire-top-cooked ancient grains, and sweet desserts. This outdoor feast is a celebration of Middle Eastern flavors and the stories they tell.

Israeli Breakfast
In this hands-on cooking class, we prepare the beloved Israeli breakfast staples: shakshuka, chopped Israeli salad, tahini, Burekas, Jerusalem bagel, and halvah. We then gather around the table to enjoy a lavish feast, that includes all the dishes that we have made alongside other must-haves such as white cheeses and cracked olives.

Cooking with Ancient Ingredients

Israeli Street Food
Learn to make homemade versions of some Israeli classic street food. From Shawarma, Sabich, to Boureks and Jerusalem bagels – we share these famed flavors along with plenty of condiments and side dishes (some homemade, a few store-bought), one iconic Israeli street beverage (called Gazoz), and many cooking tips that will help you bring these street food staples into your own kitchen.

"Hila is a very hardworking and experienced cooking talent. I thoroughly enjoyed my time listening and learning from a dedicated and thoughtful cook/chef. She had it all planned perfectly. Unfortunately, I can not attend the November 19th class but will look for other classes she may offer.
Thank her again for a great class and look forward to learning more about Israel’s foodie culture."

"What a delightful and flavorful evening on Saturday! I totally enjoyed Hila's class on Tahini - I basically didn't know anything about this food and certainly didn't imagine it could be made into so many delicious dishes. Hila is so good at explaining the preparation steps and showing us the consistency of the batter or whatever she is making. She is so gracious to hold the class in her home - perfect kitchen, too. And I really enjoyed hearing from other participants about how they use tahini in their own culture/tradition and also the discussions about where to acquire various ingredients. Thank you for offering this class and to Hila for teaching it."

"It was a wonderful, relaxing, and informative class and Hila was a very knowledgeable and personable instructor...I will definitely be adding a couple of Hila’s recipes to my summer rotation of new dishes to share with friends on weekends this summer. They were delicious – and do-able!"

"She was terrific, highly spirited, and very knowledgeable. She made everyone feel welcome and the information she transmitted was complete and well-organized including handouts. We participated in the class and the people were friendly. The setting in her home was pleasant and easy to find. Parking was abundant and everybody went away having learned from the experience. I would consider another class with her"

"I really enjoyed the afternoon. At first, I was concerned that perhaps you were trying to do too many dishes, but I think it worked out very well...I thought you were very adaptable and flexible-nothing was an issue-so you made it very comfortable...In the end, we all felt like staying longer...I was really excited about the cooking, but it was also very interesting to hear how you are building your business."

The class was FANTASTIC! Hila was so well prepared for the class both with the food and with Covid's safety measures. She really thought it out well. The food was great and the weather could not have been better. Her family helped out which made it feel like a real Israeli experience. I would highly recommend the class.

"I enjoyed the Middle Eastern Outdoor cooking class. It had well-thought-out recipes and background to each ingredient in a relaxed setting. We participated and volunteered as needed. The tastings were delicious and of full portions which I did not expect as a tasting. I will be glad to take other classes with Hila."
